Catalog Structure
The Engagement Catalog records the educational purpose and design of each Engagement. A student record is created by the sponsoring department when a student completes a cataloged Engagement. The Engagement Catalog is for information purposes only and does not constitute any contractual agreement between a student and the University of South Carolina. The University reserves the right to make changes in cataloged programs at any time.

Education Abroad Programs & Services | Study Abroad - Direct Enroll Students pay tuition and fees directly to the host university abroad, coordinated by the USC Study Abroad office. Terms can include summer, semester, or an academic year. Students operate independently to take courses from an approved academic institution, and live on-campus or within the local community. |
Education Abroad Programs & Services | Study Abroad - Exchange Program Students participate in a bi-lateral exchange program with a partner institution in one of more than 20 countries. Some programs focus on specific areas of study (e.g., International Business); some are open to all majors. Students pay USC in-state tuition (regardless of USC state residency status) for their enrollment at the exchange campus. |
Education Abroad Programs & Services | Study Abroad - Global USC Students travel abroad with USC faculty members and earn 3-course 9 credits while participating in cultural excursions and academic activities as a cohort, in countries such as Costa Rica, Gal�pagos, Tuscany. Each trip is led by 2-5 faculty members and a study abroad program manager. |
Enrichment | Epic Games Holocaust Education Program The First-Gen Living-Learning Community, in partnership with the Anne Frank Center, invites all First-Gen students to participate. In three workshops, students participate with an expert presentation and demonstration about the elements of storytelling and then create a digital storyboard about a holocaust survivor. |
Enrichment | Up Close and Personal with Guest Artist Students engage with alumni and guest artists, exploring different ideas and topics through faculty and student-led interviews in small groups. |

Community members that submit an online request are sent a list of musicians and ensembles they can contact and book. Students negotiate price and the terms of employment. |

Enrichment | Music-Based Writing Peer Coach Student coaches provide assistance to their peers for music-based writing. This includes finding academic sources for projects, navigating library resources, outlining, drafting and proof-reading papers. Coaches also help with resumes and CVs, personal statements, and other professional materials. |
Enrichment | The Marching Band - MUSC 123 Marching Band engages students to improve performance skills, improve individual and ensemble musicianship, and support the USC football program. Provides experience and development of skills necessary to direct marching band programs. |
Enrichment | Discuss the My USC Record Consultation Student meets 1-1 with a junior, senior, or graduate Carolina Experience Peer Leader (CEPL) to discuss the student's engagement on campus. CEPL shows the student how to access and review their My USC Experience records and engages them in discussion about career and life goals and how their campus engagement might help them achieve their goals. |

International Student Programs and Services | Study Abroad - Faculty-Led USC faculty members lead programs that focus on a specific subject area or foreign language, usually during the summer, winter break, spring break, or Maymester. Program length and sites vary from year to year. Students pay USC in-state tuition in addition to travel-related fees, such as airfare and lodging. |
International Student Programs and Services | Study Abroad - Affiliate Partner Students engage in education programs abroad through USC's collaboration with independent study abroad organizations. Students enroll at on-site local universities; tuition and fees are paid to the arranging organization. Students initiate participation in this program through the USC Study Abroad office. |
Internship Programs | Organization and Administration of Music Programs - MUED 568 Students engage in observations of master teachers at both the university and public school level for students to acquire a broader range of successful teaching strategies and practices. |
Internship Programs | USC Press Internship UofSC Press interns gain insight into the book publishing process by working in one of three areas: acquisitions, publicity, or marketing, with potential exposure to and integration with other Press departments and varied learning opportunities tailored to their specific interests. |
Internship Programs | Carolina Internship Program - Part-time Students engage in a paid, work-based learning experience that is usually the length or equivalent of a fall or spring semester or summer, working approximately 240 hours at 20 hours/week. Student may be eligible to receive academic credit through their academic department or pursue a Zero Credit Transcript notation through the Career Center. |
Internship Programs | South Carolina Internship Program Students apply for and receive a financial supplement ($3,000) to support their participation in an internship or cooperative education experience in high-demand industries in South Carolina (manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, health and life sciences or financial services). |
Internship Programs | Carolina Internship Program - Full-time Students engage in a paid, work-based learning experience that includes staff facilitated feedback and reflection on their experience. The goal is to enhance students' understanding of their professional knowledge, skills and abilities to aid in their full-time job searches and lifelong career management. |
Internship Programs | Cooperative Education (Co-op) - Alternating Students participate in 2-3 semesters of supervised, paid work-based learning with the same employer. The Alternating format allows the student to alternate between a semester of full-time school (480 hours at 40 hours/week). |
Internship Programs | Cooperative Education (Co-op) - Parallel Students participate in 2-3 semesters of supervised, paid work-based learning with the same employer. The Parallel format allows the student to work part-time for 240 hours (20 hours/week) for 3 consecutive semesters while attending school. |
Learning Assistance Programs | Advisement Tools Workshop This interactive workshop assists students with curricular and co-curricular technologies utilized in advising. Presenters will demonstrate the DegreeWorks audit and other advisement processes, and the My UofSC Experience Engagement database and records, to advance students' understanding of how curricular and co-curricular experiences connect. |
Learning Assistance Programs | Carolina Experience Workshop Students engage in-depth on a topic of interest, in a small group setting, facilitated by a trained presenter. Topics include: academic success, time management, mid-term/final test preparation, apps/technology, budgeting, finding faculty mentors, and more. |
Learning Assistance Programs | Senior Year Success Consultation Students meet -on-1 with a junior, senior, or graduate student Carolina Experience peer leader to discuss concerns that are topical in the fourth year; peer leaders provide resource information and help students develop actionable next steps based on their personal interests and needs. |
Learning Assistance Programs | Drop-in Tutoring Students seeking assistance with study skills or content in a specific course work with a Peer Tutor who was successful in the same course. Students meet with a Peer Tutor individually or as part of a group, for as long as two hours, as needed. |
