Biography
Amy Smith, BSN, M.Ed. is an experienced leader in medical education and student affairs, now serving as Manager of the Standardized Patient Program at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC—a role she is passionate about and has successfully led before.
She previously spent over a decade at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University, most recently as Associate Dean of Student Affairs, overseeing student wellness, careeradvising, professional development, and key events such as the White Coat Ceremony, Match Day, andGraduation. Earlier, as Assistant Dean of Medical Education and Director of Clinical Skills, she expandedthe Clinical Skills Center, advanced standardized patient programming, and played a pivotal role in the school’s LCME accreditation.
Smith began her career in nursing, progressing from Neonatal RN to Director of Women and Children’s Services at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum Design and Management and has presented nationally and internationally on medical education and standardized patient methodology.
In her spare time, Smith enjoys traveling, cooking, attending/watching sports activities and spending time with her family and friends.
