The Chairmen of the Board
Friday – August 15, 2008
7:30 pm

Best known for the stuttering number three single "Give Me Just a Little More Time," the Chairmen of the Board were one of the smoothest and most popular soul acts to emerge from Detroit in the early '70s. Although their time at the top of the R&B charts was brief -- their first Top Ten arrived in 1970, their last in 1973 -- they recorded a handful of '70s soul classics, all distinguished by the high, trembling vocals of General Norman Johnson, who also wrote the bulk of the group's material.

The Chairmen of the Board's first single, "Give Me Just a Little More Time," was an instant hit, reaching number three on the pop charts and number eight R&B in early 1970, putting Invictus on the map. Two other singles, "(You've Got Me) Dangling on a String" and "Everything's Tuesday," followed, which established them as R&B chart contenders, but they failed to climb past 38 on the pop charts. Although the subsequent "Pay to the Piper" reached number 13 on pop, it was their last Top 40 hit.    The Chairmen of the Board continued touring and releasing albums until 1976.

Firefall
Saturday – November 22, 2008
7:30 pm

Firefall seems an especially appropriate handle for the country-flavored rock 'n' roll band that carried the torch of musical forebears Firefallsuch as The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Flying Burrito Brothers into the mid 70s and beyond.

By 1983, they'd cut eight albums (scoring gold for the first three, with the third going on to platinum-plus), and put 11 singles on the charts, including such unforgettable tunes as "You Are The Woman", "Just Remember I Love You", "Cinderella" and "Strange Ways".   Throughout the 1980s, the band continued to tour and were a popular live act,  playing fairs, festivals, theaters and bigger clubs, and occasionally joined their friends The Doobie Brothers, The Beach Boys, Little River Band and Bob Seger on bigger stages. Firefall's original singles were still faves with pop and A/C radio audiences, and as the classic rock radio format evolved, a number of the band's songs enjoyed renewed exposure.

Firefall has toured extensively in the U.S., including three trips to Alaska, Europe twice and Japan twice.  The group endures because of the strength and integrity of their music. In concert, they can play over an hour of nothing but hits and radio recognizable tunes.   Firefall flourishes because of the energy and spontaneity that is so evident on stage and in the studio.

The Grascals
Saturday – March 14, 2009
7:30 pm

The GrascalsThe Grascals appreciate the innovative mingling of bluegrass and country music that has been a hallmark of the Nashville scene for more than forty years. As their two Grammy nominated releases, The Grascals (2005) and Long List Of Heartaches (2006), prove, whether they're digging into one of their original songs and instrumentals, reworking a bluegrass classic like ''Will You Be Loving Another Man,'' interpreting bluegrass-country songwriter Harley Allen's award-winning ''Me And John And Paul'' or urging guest Steve Wariner on to a blistering guitar solo on his ''Hoedown In Motown,'' the Grascals' rare musical empathy gives them an unerring ear for just the right touch to illuminate each offering's deepest spirit.

In a remarkable feat, the sextet moved to the top of the bluegrass world in just one year from winning the International Bluegrass Music Association's Emerging Artist of the Year award (2005) to earning its top Entertainer of the Year honor (2006), while scoring a Song of the Year trophy, entries in myriad critics' ''best of the year'' lists and a set of personal appearances that would be the envy of almost any entertainer.

Whether in the studio or on stage, their music both honors the past and forges into the future, bringing a breath of fresh, yet familiar air to a musical world that, all the evidence shows, just can't get enough of it.

AmbrosiaAmbrosia is one of America's best loved Pop acts.  In the new millennium the members of Ambrosia have given some of their most ambitious concert performances to date. The buzz surrounding Ambrosia isn't surprising given the heights the band scaled during the 70's and early 80's. Top 10 hits such as "Biggest Part of Me", "How Much I Feel", "You're the Only Woman" and "Holdin' on to Yesterday" have earned the band five Grammy nominations, continual radio airplay, and multi-platinum status.  Though a headlining world tour and three Grammy nominations followed, one of the biggest honors bestowed upon them was Quincy Jones' declaration that "Biggest Part of Me" was one of his all time favorite songs.

The Year 2008 marks the 38th anniversary of Ambrosia, and the band has celebrated with a very busy touring schedule that has reaped box office success, while proving to the world that Ambrosia will be a driving force in the new millennium.
